Luuuuuuuuuuke.....I am your father

Well, we had an interesting hurdle to tackle with the Bear last weekend.  He's been known to say "You're not my friend!" or "You make me sad!" when he isn't getting his way or gets in trouble for his mischief.  ...Saturday...it turned in to "You're not my FATHURRRR!"

It was actually quite comical at first...and when he'd pull that line on me, I'd say "That's RIGHT! I'm NOT your father!" and he would quickly rebuttle, "Yah you are!".

Where do kids pick this stuff up?!

I Swear...Life Happened!

So, this is a little awkward.  Uh, what do you even say after a 15-month hiatus from your 4 loyal readers?  I'm gonna go with 'get over it'.
The good news is that anyone who actually reeeeads this blog already knows me, so you know what's been going down over the past year.  Anyone who doesn't already know me and is reading this blog doesn't need to catch up on the dramatically boring deets.  So let's just pick up like we never left.

Know what time it is?  BEAR'S 3rd BIRTHDAY TIME!!!  Yep, time to start planning the extravagannnnza to end all extravaganzas.  The gala to rival all My Supersweet 16 parties combined. (is that show even still on??...recession, eh?)  The par..okay you get where I'm going with this.  Basically, it's time for my annual display of craftiness before I can put it to bed for another year.

This year's theme:  WoodyBuzz.  Naturally, anything ToyStory 3 will be gloriously appropriate.  I'm officially on the hunt and have found that if I spend 20 minutes shopping online, I'll easily spend over $60 on crap we do. not. need.  However, I have yet to hit all the local stores to see what I can get away with actually doing myself.  Since we've relocated to civilazation, I actually HAVE 'local stores' that will sell more than solid-colored plates and napkins!  Super pumped about that, I am.

The big-ticket item that I'm excited to try:  These tasty little buggars....Ice Cream Conecakes.
Who likes cake-cones? This girl.  Who likes cupcakes? This girl.  Who can't wait to put the two together?  THIS GIRRRRLL!!!!!  My enthusiasm for this project is borderline inappropriate.  I'll definitely have to post on how this turns out.

Kitty (Kee-kaht)

Kitty is my first-born.  She's my girl, though she has the reputation to be quite the heifer at times.  I was worried about how each of the "kids" would adjust to Christopher when he first came home, and honestly, I was concerned about her in particular.  With a temper that will turn on a dime and sass that will put you in your place in an instant, I worried what Kitty would think of this intruder.   But she was gentle.  And she welcomed him.  And she completely won me over again.

Move forward about a year and a half, and she continues to amaze me.  Christopher absolutely adores his KeeKaht, and she tolerates him to a fault.  He strolls around after her "petting" her...which we all know means that he walks around behind her beating her back like she ate the last cookie.  He wallers on her, straddles her and tries to ride her like a pony.  And though she will groan and grimace in protest, she is ever gentle with him.

Last night, as we got home from another long day in Norman, Christopher and Kitty both joined me in the ladies room.  *You're welcome*.  Kitty brushed up against me back and forth, welcoming me home.  Boo came to give her pets and cuddles, and she of course mewed in mild yet obligatory protest.  Then he sits down on the floor in front of us.  Scoots in real close, and puts those chubby little hands on each of Kitty's cheeks.  He leans in closer and closer, and kisses her square on the mouth.  "Meow".

And I melt.

New Words

I love it when Boo adds new words to his repertoire.  This week, we have thoroughly enjoyed the debut of the word:

WEE-WEE

Ohhh yes, it even comes with a miniature pointer finger headed straight for his diaper as he says it. "Wee Wee?, Wee Weee?, WuhWeeee?" he proclaims, as he lifts up his meat-and-taters belly so as not to let our view be obstructed of the goods.  And we wholeheartedly assure him that yes, that is his wee wee, as we giggle uncontrollably.

Another new word (that has turned into a mild obsession) is

HORSE

David takes Boo on a bike ride each evening if possible, and one of their rituals is to ride across Zinn (which SHOULD be Main Street in any other town in America, but don't get me started on that) and there is a small farm about 50 yards back off of one of the dirt roads.  Here, they see many horses!  Christopher is infatuated with horses right now.  "Horse? Horse? Horse? HORSE?" he says!  (along with Bike Bike Biiiiike? Bike? BIKE?!?! BI-HI-HI-HI-HIIIIIKE (this is the meltdown, mind you).

Anyway last night we all went on a family bike ride, and Boo got to watch Mama feed the horses a few carrots.  He loved it.  We'd ask if he was ready to get back on the bike and he would politely tell us "noooo".  And as we put him in his seat, he waved to the horses and said "bye horse!"  God this kid is cute!

My Ma has been Named!

After nearly 18 long months of dutifully spending her Thursdays with the Bear...my Ma finally has a name...GiGi. The name she wanted all along! :)  Christopher has named my dad, Papa..Poppa? You know...you get it.  He's been calling him Poppa for a few months now.  He knows him, he loves him, it's all very cute.  But when we would point to pictures of my ma and say "who's that?" we would get an inconsistent babble of garbled mess which was a clear indication that he just hadn't made up his mind yet.

Yesterday, I was pleased to hear a cute little GiGi come out of his mouth when we asked him who she was.  So now, Christopher has himself a GiGi, a Poppa, a Nani and a PaPaw.  I'm so glad that no one is just plain old Grandma or Grandpa.  I had those growing up just for sheer lack of imagination or presence of a grand-figure in my younger days that could be subjected to my toddler-like creative juices.  So congratulations, Ma...I mean, GiGi. ;)

OH, and by the way, you shall now and forever be referred to as my Ma.  Hope you like it! xoxox
