Things are progressing...

OK so as of today I will declare it official: Christopher is dropping! There was some definite lower-abdominal discomfort over the weekend, but today is a whole different story. I went to blow-dry my hair this morning and the little turd had me doubled over on account of what can only be described as his CANTALOUPE of a head trying wriggle down my drawers! Yowza! So he's been bouncing up and down all day today; I'm very curious to see how well he behaves and if he stays put for the doctor on Wednesday (he is kind of famous for making a liar out of me)! Hopefully he'll keep making his way down and be in prime position for the induction on Monday so that we will just have a one-day labor! David doesn't think that I will make it until Monday, but I'm still feeling pretty confident that I'll be checking in right on time. It's a fun little wager to have going...

Also, it seems as though I'm trying to get a smidgen of a headcold--have been falling under the weather since Saturday afternoon. I called to make sure that it wouldn't interfere with the induction and was assured that it would not, so that is good news...now I just hope that I'm not feeling like cacalaca and all snotty and coughy and stuff when Christopher and I finally meet...you know what they say about first impressions, after all. ;-)

"Welcome to the world little buddy....a-choooooooo!...fancy a cold?"

Induction Date Set!

Alrighty! It is official--assuming that I don't go into labor on my own beforehand (hiiiiiighly unlikely if you ask me), we have an appointment to check into the hospital at 5:00am on Monday, February 16! Doc Andrews says that we'll check me in, and do whatever we have to do until we get ourselves a baby--she's decided that we don't want to try this thing over a week or two, we want to just get in and get it d-u-n!!

Everything is still looking good right now--I'm still closed up, but am thinning out some, so that's a move in the right direction at least. My guess is that Christopher will make his appearance sometime late Monday night, or possibly Tuesday. I don't expect that it would go on into Wednesday before we were at least seriously talking about a c-section, but who knows?

Doc is estimating him at around 6 1/2 to 7 lbs at this point, so she said he's not a huge baby, which is good, and hopefully will work to my advantage when it's time for the big song and dance!

So that's what we know for now! Stay tuned...

Let's Really Get This Started!

Well, up until now, I've just sporadically posted about the pregnancy. (clearly, since the last post was when I was almost to my second trimester and now I'm only a couple of weeks away from delivery!) But now I'd like to take this blog in a new direction and make it less about meeeeeeee and more about uuuuuuus and this new chapter of our lives. The big idea is to have at least 1 weekly post with updates and pics so that our family and friends can have constant updates since we are so far apart.

But since we're not quite to that point yet, let's just recap on what's been going on since August... As of today, I am 36 weeks and 3 days pregnant. I ended up switching doctors because the ones I was with just didn't suit me, but I love love love the new woman I am with. Dr. Andrews is a family practice doctor, so not only is she seeing me through the rest of this pregnancy, but she will be baby's pediatrician when the time comes.

We found out on September 11th that we are having a little boy!! We have decided to name him Christopher Scott Gatlin, and we are so ready to meet him it is ridiculous! So far he is very shy and does not do acrobatics for anyone but his mommy for the most part--but daddy gets to feel him every now and then, too (especially when he tries to kick him out of bed at night, haha)! He is still very very high and tucks his little bum right up under my diaphragm any chance he gets...I like to say that he just wants to be close to my heart. (insert "awwwww")

We have his nursery all decorated and ready to go! We went with a sports theme, and it has turned out just absolutely precious! I can't wait to see him in his crib and in all of the little clothes that we have for him...and there are a lot of clothes for him to be in and out of in the first few months as we apparently have NO self-control when it comes to cute little baby outfits!

Let's see, what else? As of right now, the plan is for me to be induced at 38 or 39 weeks, depending on what my body is doing. We want to be able to take me off of my blood thinners completely before I go into labor so that I'll have maximum chances for an epidural and minimal chances for heavy bleeds during the big show. So I'm good with that. I saw the Dr. Andrews the other day and she said that at my appointment next week we will start talking dates! She said that we may have to do it over a couple of tries and use some medicine to give me a kick-start if I'm not having any changes on my own, but we'll see. So as of this point, he should be here any time between Feb 10-24! There's no telling when we'll actually get to meet this little monkey...but I guarantee you it won't be a day too soon!

So that's kind of it for now. I'll post again after we meet next week. Again...will "try" to post weekly, but we'll see how things go. Ciao for now!

It's been a while!

Wow--I just realized it's been well over a month since I posted anything. Things are still just plodding along. I'm 12weeks, 4days along and everything is going smoothly as far as I can tell.

We had a second doctor appointment on July 29, and I just had my pap exam and we got another ultrasound. I didn't know we were getting one or I would've taken something to drink with me!! The pictures were very white and fuzzy--I'm guessing because my bladder was empty and we were bouncing off bones, but whatever. David and I can make out a teensy-weensy profile in our picture, and I told him that I know it's early, but I think the baby's gonna look like me! lol

Doc appt 3 is on Tuesday (8/19), and I'll finally get to see my original doctor. So far I like her a lot better than the other two, but we'll see how the appointment goes. If it turns out I don't like any of them, I may switch practices altogether--who knows?? BUT if everything goes well at the appt and all is looking as it should, then we get to start shopping!! I'll officially be in my 2nd trimester as of Thursday, so it's time to start making a few purchases along the way.

I've been spending most of my days on the Justmommies Feb DDC and have gotten some great advice and ideas for cribs and strollers and slings/wraps, all kinds of things. Those ladies are just awesome. It's been really sad to see a few of them go, but they're really a great group and I'm glad to be a member.

Let's see...what else is coming up? My parents may come to see us this weekend, David is taking me on a date tonight!!!! (YAYYY), and next weekend it's back up to Norman to visit the fam after we go to the rodeo down here on Friday night! We've got some kick-ass seats to a Redhawks game Saturday night and Adam and Natalie are going to go with us--we haven't really gotten to hang out with them in ...I don't even know how long. I miss them.

So that's really kind of it. I'll really try to be better at this! Maybe mark my calendar to blog every Friday or something? ...we'll see. I did say that this was something new I was trying...old habits die hard and stuff.
