Wow--I just realized it's been well over a month since I posted anything. Things are still just plodding along. I'm 12weeks, 4days along and everything is going smoothly as far as I can tell.
We had a second doctor appointment on July 29, and I just had my pap exam and we got another ultrasound. I didn't know we were getting one or I would've taken something to drink with me!! The pictures were very white and fuzzy--I'm guessing because my bladder was empty and we were bouncing off bones, but whatever. David and I can make out a teensy-weensy profile in our picture, and I told him that I know it's early, but I think the baby's gonna look like me! lol
Doc appt 3 is on Tuesday (8/19), and I'll finally get to see my original doctor. So far I like her a lot better than the other two, but we'll see how the appointment goes. If it turns out I don't like any of them, I may switch practices altogether--who knows?? BUT if everything goes well at the appt and all is looking as it should, then we get to start shopping!! I'll officially be in my 2nd trimester as of Thursday, so it's time to start making a few purchases along the way.
I've been spending most of my days on the Justmommies Feb DDC and have gotten some great advice and ideas for cribs and strollers and slings/wraps, all kinds of things. Those ladies are just awesome. It's been really sad to see a few of them go, but they're really a great group and I'm glad to be a member.
Let's see...what else is coming up? My parents may come to see us this weekend, David is taking me on a date tonight!!!! (YAYYY), and next weekend it's back up to Norman to visit the fam after we go to the rodeo down here on Friday night! We've got some kick-ass seats to a Redhawks game Saturday night and Adam and Natalie are going to go with us--we haven't really gotten to hang out with them in ...I don't even know how long. I miss them.
So that's really kind of it. I'll really try to be better at this! Maybe mark my calendar to blog every Friday or something? ...we'll see. I did say that this was something new I was trying...old habits die hard and stuff.

First Dr Appt
Well we finally got to see the doctor this morning. Everything went just fine--we got an ultrasound and saw our little critter with the most adorable little flicker of a heartbeat ever! The ultrasound was the best part but it was kinda 'wham bam thank you ma'am' ya know? So whatever.
Anyway I have pics scanned in and am thinking of starting a pregnancy scrapbook or something...at least a shoebox to put my goodies in.
So we did lots of bloodwork and a gestational diabetes test, even though I'm only 7 weeks along. It actually made me feel better to check early than to just assume I am ok and wait until later.
The doc did end up putting me on blood thinning shots that I will have to give myself daily until I'm around 28 weeks I think, then they'll switch me to a different brand that will wear off quicker in case I go into labor and want an epidural (um, YES PLEASE), apparently no one will touch me with a spinal tap if I'm on thinners. Who knew? So they showed me how to do it myself and I went ahead and did the first one there in the office and will start at home tomorrow night. I cannot wait for the day that I am off all of these stupid rx's. Good grief.
So really that's all. It was a very exciting morning. I can't wait until a few more weeks have passed and I can hear the heartbeat and then have another ultrasound when there's more to see. But having gone once I feel like I've gotten my "fix" to hold me off for a while.

Life changing events
Well boys and girls, it is official. I am pregnant! I woke up early Saturday morning (6/14/08) and decided to take an early pg test. I figured it would be negative, but I just couldn't stop myself. I about crapped when I saw that "Pregnant" pop up on the digital screen. I stared at it for a second, looked up to witness the look of absolute shock that was on my face in the mirror, and immediately tried to test again. But I couldn't pee anymore! Kinda amusing really, but that's how I roll.
So I don't even really know what I did for the next 30 minutes or so, but I finally just couldn't wait any longer. I go in and lay down next to David and start to nuzzle him and stroke his arm and tell him to wake up. He groans. I whisper "Wake up, we're gonna have a baby..." and his eyes shoot open and in his adorable little groggy half-asleep voice he says "What??" So I tell him again, and he says "Yayyyyy" with this sweet little grin on his face.
It was just precious. We ended up being able to tell both of our families that weekend. Just in time for Father's Day--it was perfect.
So now I am very impatiently awaiting my first dr. appointment. I go first thing on July 8 to do my pre-doctor appointment I guess. I don't know if there will be an ultrasound since I will only be 7 weeks at that point, but I am very excited to see how it turns out.
Having this baby is going to be the biggest adventure we have ever had. I haven't been feeling to bad, I mainly just have an uncomfortable stomach and a little boob soreness at this point, but I really don't mind feeling crappy if it means that I've got a little critter growing in there.
We've already been picking out baby names. Right now, I think it will be Tucker Scott for a boy, and Emma Jane for a girl...but of course that is all up for grabs. I had John and Samantha all set and happy with, but then David just chunked them out with the bathwater! So it's been fun to come up with names together. I'm so excited but I'm trying not to get too comfortable with all of it because I know that so much can go wrong. I am almost afraid to be genuinely happy right now. It's a very strange feeling.
So anyway, I figured I would just write a little blip about what's been going on here lately so that I don't forget down the road.

Dreams
I had a dream this weekend that we had a little girl and named her Samantha Jane. Now I'm completely in love with the name and simply must have it! Evelyn Christine had always been my choice for a girl's name, but I do love the idea of naming my daughter after my mom (the Jane), and Samantha is one of those names that I never liked when I was growing up, like Emily or Allison, but has grown on me immensly since I've gotten older.
So we'll see, of course---but hopefully I will know in a month or so if we're going to be picking out baby names or what...but if we are, Samantha Jane is at the top of my list for a girl. How amazing would that be if my dream were more of a premonition than just a passing thought...
