First Dr Appt

Well we finally got to see the doctor this morning. Everything went just fine--we got an ultrasound and saw our little critter with the most adorable little flicker of a heartbeat ever! The ultrasound was the best part but it was kinda 'wham bam thank you ma'am' ya know? So whatever.
Anyway I have pics scanned in and am thinking of starting a pregnancy scrapbook or something...at least a shoebox to put my goodies in.

So we did lots of bloodwork and a gestational diabetes test, even though I'm only 7 weeks along. It actually made me feel better to check early than to just assume I am ok and wait until later.

The doc did end up putting me on blood thinning shots that I will have to give myself daily until I'm around 28 weeks I think, then they'll switch me to a different brand that will wear off quicker in case I go into labor and want an epidural (um, YES PLEASE), apparently no one will touch me with a spinal tap if I'm on thinners. Who knew? So they showed me how to do it myself and I went ahead and did the first one there in the office and will start at home tomorrow night. I cannot wait for the day that I am off all of these stupid rx's. Good grief.

So really that's all. It was a very exciting morning. I can't wait until a few more weeks have passed and I can hear the heartbeat and then have another ultrasound when there's more to see. But having gone once I feel like I've gotten my "fix" to hold me off for a while.
